The picture....

I forgot to add a picture yesterday of the wall hanging. This is a full deer hide taken off our farm and then painted by an Amish woman in Arthur, IL. It's about 6 feet wide by 5 feet tall. Sure was fun watching Tom and Durrell hanging it. (Thanks for the reminder sister... love you!)

Weekend projects

Besides wheelin', we managed to get two BIG projects done. First, we moved the hot tub into place on the deck. That was a real challenge as it was down at the bunk house and had to be moved about 500 feet uphill. With 7 guys and 5 women helping, we managed to get it up to the deck and lowered into it's final resting spot. Now we're awaiting electrical hookups and then H2O to make this project complete. One man, 5 woman hot tub vs. one woman, 7 man hot tub. Which would you prefer?
Thanks everyone! Tool Man, New Bob, Rusty, Rooster, Zacklee's, and the Rowdy Redneck Team.

In addition to the hot tub, Rooster fixed a plumbing leak at the bunk house and Zacklee's helped us mount a new wall hanging on the second floor wall. Last but not least, Monkey Zack swung out onto the rafters to give them a good dusting.

Jeep Safari

This weekend is the annual Jeep Safari hosted by TRJC (www.trjc.com). We run trails on our farm with the help of Trail Guides Rooster and New/Big/Sponge Bob. Had to remove several large trees with Zach of the Zach-Lee's leading the way.

Quilting week with Genette

My dear friend Genette came to visit for a week and we spent 3 1/2 days up in the craft room working on quilts. Genette's quilt is being raffled off for a fundraiser for The Rose in Houston and mine is just a creative expression in anticipation of Sunshine.

It's been a while....

Sorry folks for the long delay in updates. Ever since we moved in it's be busy with setting up and then dealing with all the minor issues. The 'to do' list grows longer each day. Even though we check of one item, three more get added. The never-ending process has begun! But, we did manage to get a few photo's of some landscaping fun we had a couple weeks ago. Rooster and D rented a ditcher and laid all the drainage tile underground before we had the area around the lake seeded.

Barn Door

The bathroom door for our powder room is finally installed. It's designed like a barn door complete with barn style latch and hinges.Above: view from the hallway

Unique Staircase

Our staircase is almost complete thanks to the creative efforts of our neighbor Wilmer Schrock. He handcrafted the splitlog staircase, character logs and railings.

The Last Winter Storm of the Season?

It was beautiful to wake up this morning to several inches of fresh snow. As pretty as it was, we're hoping it's the last snowfall of the year! Especially since April is just 2 days away!!

New Residents in Pike County

Meet our new 'mousers'... above is Midnight and below is Rowdy. These two guys are the latest addition to the farm and we're hoping they can help us control the mouse population.
In other news, this weekend Sparky and his brother-in-law Jason came down to hook us up with tv, internet and phone.

While Sparky and Jason were struggling thru the miles of CAT6 wires, Durrell struggled with wires of his own in the craft room. Thanks D for getting me lit up with my new florescent lights!
