Weekly Farm Progress Report
We just rec'd these pictures from Don of the progress at the farm this week. Not only is the house taking shape, but the pond is also under construction!
This is the view looking up to the house from the bunkhouse. The wide window in the back is the kitchen sink window with pass-thru to the porch/outdoor kitchen. The smaller window is above a built-in desk. The two windows on the back side are on either side of the dual-fuel range.
View from the garage looking forward thru the house. Master bathroom is on the lower left corner.

Flood Devastation
The continual rain has finally reached the point of destruction at the farm. When we arrived last night, we discovered that 5 1/2 inches of rain the prior day had washed out many of our fields and roads. Although it's tough to show the gravity of the devastation in a 2 dimensional photograph, at least you'll get a glimpse. There is absolutely no way to cross 6 Mile Creek at the present time. All the usual spots have been blocked or washed out. First priority will be re-establishing access to the other side of the farm.
This is the view of 6 Mile where we used to have a trail to cross over via the road that Durrell and my Dad built several years ago. As you can see from the picture below... the road has disappeared and there is now a 4' dropoff into very deep water! Time to build a new trail.
Corn field behind the bunk house - doesn't look good for crops this year. The whole field flooded and now it's a mucky mess.
There was so much water in the field, it floated this log out into the middle of nowhere.
The other, more difficult trail across the creek behind the bunk house has also been washed out.
All the corn stalks from the fields have floated over to Rooster's Crossing and the woods along the creek. Most of the stalks are knee deep. Quite an interesting sight to see.
This is our regular creek crossing on the north side of the farm. As you can see, a rather large tree floated downstream and is now lodged in the bank preventing passage. Even if the tree was gone, the creek is so deep and wide now in this spot that it'll be a while before we can even try.
